Simulation of Motion Artifacts on VCG and ECG

چکیده
Respiration and body position changes (BPC) affect on the morphology of electrocardiograph (ECG). This variation can be modeled by the rotation of vectorcardiographic (VCG) loop. To visualize the distortion on ECG, caused by these motion artifacts, a software simulation environment was created. With user adjustable rotation angles it enables observation of the influence of VCG loop movement on ECG.

Comparative accuracy of electrocardiographic and vectorcardiographic criteria for inferior myocardial infarction.
Numerous criteria for the diagnosis of inferior wall myocardial infarction by electrocardiogram (ECG) and vectorcardiogram (VCG) have been published, but they have not been subjected to a systematic, independent evaluation. Accordingly, we studied 146 patients undergoing cardiac catheterization; 63 were normal and 83 had a history of infarction, a significant right coronary lesion and an inferi...
متن کاملAdaptive-Filtering-Based Algorithm for Impulsive Noise Cancellation from ECG Signal
Suppression of noise and artifacts is a necessary step in biomedical data processing. Adaptive filtering is known as useful method to overcome this problem. Among various contaminants, there are some situations such as electrical activities of muscles contribute to impulsive noise. This paper deals with modeling real-life muscle noise with α-stable probability distribution and adaptive filterin...
متن کاملReducing the respiratory motion artifacts in PET cardiology: A simulation study
Introduction: There are several technical features that make PET an ideal device for the noninvasive evaluation of cardiac physiology. Organ motion due to respiration is a major challenge in diagnostic imaging, especially in cardiac PET imaging. These motions reduce image quality by spreading the radiotracer activity over an increased volume, distorting apparent les...
متن کاملECG-based gating in ultra high field cardiovascular magnetic resonance using an independent component analysis approach
BACKGROUND In Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR), the synchronization of image acquisition with heart motion is performed in clinical practice by processing the electrocardiogram (ECG). The ECG-based synchronization is well established for MR scanners with magnetic fields up to 3 T. However, this technique is prone to errors in ultra high field environments, e.g. in 7 T MR scanners as used...
متن کاملSpatiotemporal representation of cardiac vectorcardiogram (VCG) signals
BACKGROUND Vectorcardiogram (VCG) signals monitor both spatial and temporal cardiac electrical activities along three orthogonal planes of the body. However, the absence of spatiotemporal resolution in conventional VCG representations is a major impediment for medical interpretation and clinical usage of VCG. This is especially so because time-domain features of 12-lead ECG, instead of both spa...
